On June 16-23, 2025, project team members D. Sundueva and E. Komkova conducted field research in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.
The researchers aimed to record the respondents’ memories about Russians in Dordon (‘East’) aimag and, in particular, in Choibalsan; to trace the relations between Russians and Chinese, Mongols, Buryats and to study their impact on Russian Old-Time settlers’ community in Mongolia,
During the expedition, numerous interviews were conducted, photographs from family archives, maps, and newspaper articles were copied. The researchers managed to record the biographical and historical narratives and to document the linguistic norms.
